RESTORED PIONEER SX-9000 RECEIVER
✨ Condition: Fully tested, cleaned, and professionally serviced
The Pioneer SX-9000 was the company’s first high-end stereo receiver, released in 1970 as a statement of serious hi-fi intent.
Delivering 55 watts per channel, it combines solid-state reliability with a tone that’s smooth, rich, and deeply analog — evoking a tube-like warmth without the fragility of tubes.
Its all-wood cabinet, brushed aluminum faceplate, and bold front panel layout — complete with twin VU meters, large knobs, and toggle switches — make the SX-9000 a true piece of audio history.
More than just a receiver, it’s a time machine to the golden age of early solid-state hi-fi.

🌟 Why the SX-9000 Is a Hidden Gem?
Before the SX-780, before the SX-1250 — there was the SX-9000.
It didn’t rely on brute power. It relied on tone, balance, and presence.
The midrange is lush, vocals float, and jazz or classical feels like it’s being performed right in front of you.
This isn’t the receiver for loud parties — it’s the one for long, serious listening.
Its unique tone shaping options, especially the independent left/right EQ, give you more control than many modern amps.
In short: it was way ahead of its time — and still delivers.

Condition:
This receiver is in “Excellent” condition, displaying minor signs of use with a bright, clear dial. All knobs, feet, and the attached AM antenna and AC cord are present and intact. Although the manual is missing, it can be found online or we can provide a PDF upon request. Please inspect all photos thoroughly for the actual condition.
Service:
Upon inspection, the unit had scratchy controls, a dim dial, and some distortion in one channel. Therefore, it underwent servicing by our technician. Pioneer used certain transistors in this model that are known to fail after 40 years, so all of these were replaced. This upgrade resolved the distortion issue. Additionally, several questionable capacitors were replaced.
Testing:
After servicing, the receiver was tested on our bench and performed excellently, delivering a powerful, warm, distortion-free signal characteristic of analog receivers. All inputs, outputs, and features were confirmed operational, and the tuner spins smoothly. Additional testing was conducted, and we can provide specific feature information upon request. This is a remarkable find for the vintage audiophile.
